Today I really do have quite a treat for you… I have lined up an interview that is as rare as hen’s teeth. An interview with my mentor Ken Evoy.
Now what makes it so rare? Well, I can count the number of interviews Ken has done over the years on one hand. Heck he’s even been asked to keynote many seminars, being offered as much as $20,000 for one presentation… and you know what? He always turns them down.
Who is this guy?!
Ken Evoy is what you’d consider one of the God Fathers of online marketing. He’s been there from the start and always on the bleeding edge. His original manual ‘Make Your Site Sell‘ (MYSS), at the time of its publication, was so ahead of anything else out there it was ridiculous – even today, 8+ years on, it’s a great read filled with loads of evergreen information. Some of the cutting edge stuff of 1999 has obviously become “out of date” but, if you read it, you’ll find much of the information is still relevant today… and it’s free!
Perhaps one of Ken’s most well known accomplishments is his Site Build It (SBI) system. This program has produced more successful online businesses than anything else online! In fact, SBI sites have been featured on Oprah, BBC, MSNBC and in The New York Times, USA Today and Chicago Tribune.
Now before I start to come across like some SiteSell fanboy (and I am), I want you to understand where I’m coming from.
I first started using SBI back in 2003 (shortly after reading MYSS in 2002) and it’s now developed into the backbone of my most successful website www.meta-formula.com. This website kicks some serious butt in my niche. I suppose that makes me a little biased but, for me, the proof is in the pudding.
So how did I land the interview of the decade? You’ll have to download the interview to find out. It’s free, no optin required.
And I would very much appreciate it if you’re on twitter, twitter it. If you’re on dig, dig it. If you’re on Del.icio.us, bookmark it. In short, if you can pass it on, that’d be great.
Your SEO Coach,
David Jenyns

Extraordinary! Thanks so much …
Thanks so much for sharing this. Eye opening and inspirational. It’s helped me get back on track wth building my SBI site!
David;
I just listened to the interview – thanks for that!
I always get so much out of listening to Ken Evoy speak.
I once stayed up really late holding trying to get to talk to Ken when he was being interviewed and taking questions on the radio. I was one call away from talking to him.
I didn’t have much of a question, I guess I am just (fan girl) of SBI.
I have learned so much, and I am one of those normal everyday people who is building a business – not just a site.
So, Thanks again.
Barb
Hi David, thanks for posting the interview, just listened to it and thought it was excellent.
I have so much respect for Ken Evoy and his incredible level of integrity.
I can totally appreciate how proud you must be having had the opportunatiy to speak to Ken and interview him.
Well done!
Susana
Man can Ken talk Smile
Got a donkey here with no hind legs Smile
Very interesting to listen to. I think for most of us here we already get what Ken is saying (or we wouldn’t be here) but for me it really came through how much Ken believes in it himself and how he really does want people using SBI to succeed.
Thanks David for putting it up.
Andy
David, thanks. I really enjoyed this interview. Smile
Ken, you did a great job. Wink I look forward to more interviews from you.
All the best.
Hi David,
Fantastic interview – love it how Ken does so much of the talking; It’s the SBI Forums in audio format!
I bought SBI in October 2008 (via your link ;-)) and I’ve never looked back. Two top 0.5% traffic sites, an education in marketing on the web and a solid, growing business.
Thanks David,
This interview is gotta be a must for everyone!
It really is worth investing an hour of your time to listen.
Set aside an hour when you won’t be disturbed.
As for the most interesting point, wow, there were so many but for me it was Ken’s integrity, it just shone through.
Thanks again David, and thanks Ken for everything!!!
Mike
What it is, as what it was when I first came across SBI! and read the literature, is the integrity. The integrity and honesty shines through.
Truth, they say, is stranger than fiction, and I’ll tell you something else – Truth (and Integrity) and a great product is way better than a fictitious get rich quick scheme.
Keep it Real! And you have, Ken… Real Good too.
Lora
PS… You talk as long as you write LOL But guess what, it’s all good.
Will listen later… Thanks for posting
Thanks for the interview. I can never get enough of reading / listening to what ken has to say. He is the man!
This interview helped me in more then one way.
– First it made my walk in the countryside even more pleasant ’cause I had something worthwhile to listen to whilst I was burning calories (nearly 1.000)
– I enjoyed listening to both speakers. Both have very pleasant voices to listen to. Their passion for what they are doing clearly shines through!
– The call made me think. And take action! I killed one of by blogs because it had nothing to do with building a business. And it wasn’t a hobby either.
Thanks David. Thanks Ken. For this free lesson.
take care,
Raymond
thanks for taking the effort of going after the man behiind SBI. I am pretty sure that we benefit much from this interview. Hope your hosting plan will cover the massive bandwidth use all the downloads take 🙂
What I liked besides the interview is the comment from Raymond above:
‘- The call made me think. And take action! I killed one of by blogs because it had nothing to do with building a business. And it wasn’t a hobby either.’
Hi David,
I have used Rent A Coder in the past. I built a friend a website when I was
trying to learn Dreamweaver. I used RAC when things got sticky. I think they recently changed their name to vWorker. The web site I built is:
robb-bowerpresents.com It’s not optimized at all, and it was my first and
only attempt so far, but he sells a lot of tickets through the site, which
got me thinking I could make a go of this. I don’t make a penny from the
proceeds either, which sucks, but it was really the learning process that
intrigued me. I will eventually try to convince him he he needs me in a
joint venture, although the blues music scene is rather small.
By the way, I liked your enthusiasm that came through on the video. You have a great personality for the medium.
At the moment, I’m stuck on Day 2 with Site Build It!, trying to determine
what I’m truly passionate about, as I have so many interests with heavy
competition.
Also, I’m getting a lot of good info from your SEO videos. Thanks for that
bonus info.
I look forward to a little Skype time with you in the future when my
momentum slows.
All the best to you,
Ron
This is great stuff. I’ve heard about Ken Evoy and SBI years ago but only now (thru this interview) that I got a better insight about him and his product. I had read some of the free tutorial ebooks from SiteSell and the info there really helped me form a much improved online business sense.
Hi David
Thanks for providing the interview of Ken Evoy online. His sites that have provided have also been very useful. Its soo hard to find good contents online but when you know it comes from Ken Evoys it gonna be reliable and very useful. Thanks once again for the three sites of Make your site sell, Site build it and Sitesell.
Why is Ken so aggressive in the SBI forums though? And could you ask him why nearly all SBI sites have tanked several times with each update?
Thanks!
