Just wanted to update you on my personal YouTube saga. I’m not 100% sure how we did it but we won! We got through to the 600 pound guerilla. Watch the video below for the full details – posted on YouTube no less 😉
Your SEO Coach,
Dave Jenyns
Ps. To the hundreds of people who rushed to my support – I can’t thank you enough! It really was very touching to see all the amazing comments posted on the blog. Good to know if we stick together our voices will be heard. A special thanks goes out to Gideon Shalwick, Darren Rowse, Mike Rhodes, Marc Lindsay and last but definitely not least Caz 🙂
PPs. I realise I was a little too excited when I emailed everyone about the good news and I made a mistake in the subject line. Mental note: It’s always a good idea to write an email, let it sit for a bit and then review it once more before emailing.
… but I was just too damn excited 😉
David,
It’s great seeing you back up on YouTube! It must have been a crazy and nerve wrecking ordeal for you. I can only thank you for all you do for providing top notch material and for being a class act and being an ethical business person. Time to continue enjoying your tutorials!
– Sam
That is Absolutely BRILLIANT! Well done YouTube. This issue got me looking over the YT community policy which refers to the YT Terms of service which in turn refers back YT community policy. This makes it very hard to understand why you were banned, I certainly could not see why but it would be great it you could post the videos to Veoh or tube mogul as a lesson on what not to do. Anyway glad you got the account back, they still need to address the 3 strikes and you are out policy, if I were you I would be creating many different accounts, one for each product line or even for each video.
Excellent news David!!!! What an unnecessary scare for you – all that hard work just vanishing in an instant. As a BBS student and a follower, I know that I am relieved and grateful that YouTube has reinstated your channel so I can only imagine how you are feeling!!! Back to work now…..!
Glad to know the good has prevail. Nonetheless, maybe this incident has again reinforce the need to have back-ups even for videos site. Maybe you should consider uploading your videos to another video sharing site as well as a back-up, in addition to being another source for your followers to access the video in case similar incident occurs again.
Thanks for telling us your story David! I woke up to a ban this morning and like you, only had one email – that a video about making money on Squidoo (and old one) was a violation. But my account was suspended. I did the review request and my followers have been Tweeting YouTube as well. If nothing works I too will take the steps you mentioned of a press release and open letter. I hate that the good, ethical people are being tossed out without consideration. Thank you!
I’m very happy for you Dave. You’re one of the most hard working people I know and the tremendous effort you put into getting things back to normal was just an amazing thing to witness.
Hi David,
Did they actually give you a reason why they deactivated your account in the first place??
Sam: Thanks for stopping by and sharing your kind words. Much appreciated.
J Wilson: Having multiple accounts is a good idea… that said, when I got my notice, it did say I was banned from owning or being associated with any YouTube accounts – so it might not save you.
Gail: Thanks heaps Gail, appreciate the support.
Alex: We will for sure. Looking to Amazon S3 actually.
Grace: Thanks grace…
Tiffany: How’s it all going? Any luck? Gideon and I will be recording a call tomorrow to try and get the word out and offer our insights.
Duncan: Nope no word… kinda sucks cause now we don’t know why it happened or how we got it back.
Your SEO Coach,
Dave
Glad you got it back. There’s a few of us still wondering why they did this to us, and how we can get some attention from YouTube. I’ve tried all the usual channels as well, as resorted to blogging about it (and linked back to your post) here:

At least your post has given me some hope that YouTube will do a proper review.
Cheers,
Peter
@Peter still no idea on what got the account reactivated. Might be worth checking out my other blog post:

Covered the whole saga in detail with Gideon.
Let me know if that helps.
