Could you imagine growing up in a cult, breaking free at age 18 and, on your last day, having fellow cult members praying that your flesh burn in hell?
It almost sounds like the start of a horror movie doesn’t it? Well, it was actually how Dave Lakhani (www.boldapproach.com) started his journey to becoming a master persuader. In hindsight, what better way to learn persuasion that through a cult? I suppose every cloud has a silver lining after all?
Fast forward to today and Dave’s persuading people to buy millions of dollars worth of products and services online. He’s authored numerous books including “How to sell when nobody’s buying”, “Persuasion – the art of getting what you want”, “Power of an hour” and “Subliminal persuasion.”
In short, Dave knows his stuff.
I recently had the opportunity to chat with Dave about his fascinating story and discovered what he’s doing now. Click here to download the interview – no optin required.

Sold out the book in matter of hours after launch? That was a huge achievement in book sales today! 🙂
I also noticed that he mentioned something about focused social media strategy, which is great in my opinion. But how does he manage doing all these sustained interactions using the social media? Does he allot specific days to work on a specific social media or does he outsource some of the ‘interaction work’ instead?
Hi Lia,
Thanks for your comments. Re: the social media strategy I can’t really speak for Dave Lakhani (I might have to follow him up on this one)… that said, I think allotting specific days is a great idea. It’s really easy to get caught up in the “busy work” of social media and feel like you’re doing good work when really it’s low value.
Personally I focus on twitter, facebook, posterous and youtube… I then use automated services like pingfm and outsourcers to get the information posted on a host of 2nd tier web2.0 properties.
